war on mice

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

*WARNING* Not for the faint of heart or PETA members! *WARNING*

Apparently this is a bad week for the various goings and comings of apartment 1E. The mice seemed to have accrued another point in their favor after the death of one of their own earlier this week. Codey had set out another trap and when he returned, the trap was no longer where he left it. Not knowing what to think, he forgot about it until the following day when he saw it lodged in what must be a mouse hole on the other side of the kitchen. To the best that we can figure, the mouse must have got caught in the trap but somehow had the strength to drag its injured body and the trap across the kitchen and half way into the mouse hole and where the trap was sticking out. We thought we would find his lifeless body half in the hole but no, somehow the persistent little bastard managed to wrestle free from the trap! I really hope he doesn’t up and die under the floorboards. I guess if you have to die, that would be one way to give us a last shot.

At least he led us to the entrance way to their lair which Codey plugged up with steel wool.

war on parking

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

This past weekend, we took a major hit in the war on parking in NYC. Molly put up a good fight against the thieving nighttime teenagers who were determined to get in. I’m quite proud of her. Casualties were a busted side window (now it matches the windshield) and a busted front door lock (which was already broken anyway).

Seeing as the little punks made off with mountain bike, I’m going to say they won this round. Nonetheless, the war isn’t over yet. They won’t get the best of me!

Papa Go, mechanic and handy man extraordinaire was able to repair the window making it good as new. The front door lock is going to take a bit more time. The mountain bike, I have some thug emissaries on the lookout for that. Holding out slim hope that I can buy it back for 50 bucks. Rookie move, leaving it in there. I have only myself to blame.

So…the website for KL Creative Design has been in disarray for far too long. I built it in flash and in true slacker fashion, neglected the fact that I don’t own flash and can’t edit it. So i’m working on rebuilding it, slowly but surely. That is, in the 5 extra minutes I get between jobs. Anyway, I built a couple of galleries for my photography (do the fun stuff first). Check them out.

baby shopping?

Saturday, September 13th, 2008

Weba and I went to Babies R’Us tonight to register for her shower. First off, I haven’t been to Babies R’Us since…well probably around the time me or one of my siblings was in that age category. This is a whole new area of life that we know nothing about. I felt like two teenagers trying to pretend like we were “all growed up”. Plastic bib or cloth? Pajamas with feet or without? How are we supposed to know?

Here’s some photos of when my cousin Michael came to visit. Sometimes I get a little desensitized to the grandeur of the city I live in.

what is with those chinese people?

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

Okay, I have two beefs (beefs?) with the Chinese people. Well, there are more which can be referenced here but for the moment, since this is my lunch break and I’ve got to go back to work soon, I’ve got two.

One. what is the deal with chopsticks? As far as I’m concerned, they are the most useless invention and should have gone the way of the amtrack with the invention of the fork. A fork is so much handier and versatile!

Two. Why do they put all those useless vegetables in your food, don’t they know everyone picks them out anyway? We ordered Chinese food at the office today and I had three pieces of shrimp, basically a whole onion chopped up, and an unidentifiable legum from the gourd family on a bed of rice. Even if I wanted to eat the onion, I could never eat that much! So after eating the 3 shrimp, I’m done and 75% of my lunch is still left. Wasteful!
