27

27 is year o’ rock star. haha just kidding. So yeah, I turned 27. The crowds are calling for a post but I don’t really have much to say about it. Feels normal I guess. This is what I got:

I’ve been playing it obsessively for the past 9 days since it has been mine.

My birthday made me think about my life here and really miss those whose lives have been so intwined in mine that I am no longer complete without them. I enjoy the new friends I have made here but there are few who have the longevity to know me well. Guess that comes with the territory.

I celebrated on all hours of the 23rd. Hung out with some work friends at the wee hours of my birthday. Skated the following morning. Later on, I drove down to Denver with a friend. We met another friend and went to a vegetarian restaurant for dinner. My choice of course. They were there solely for my sake, I guess vegetarian food is less popular out here. Hmmmm…. Afterwards, we explored Denver. A relatively mellow day. We actually made it a two day affair and stayed the night in Denver, visiting the flea market and doing other sorts of shopping you can only do in real civilization. It was nice to be out of town and be with friends who I can be myself around.

Missed you all……….

I spent the last few weeks in NJ, visiting family, friends and skatepark kids. I had a great visit. I have come away with only one conclusion and that is that NJ drivers are the worst in the world. Hands down. I’ve grown up driving in NJ and I was scared for the first half day. After that I got used it and sort of enjoyed cutting people off.

But seriously, I had one car purposefully cut me off, stop in the middle of the intersection blocking all of traffic and start yelling at me through his passenger seat window. As if cutting me off wasn’t enough, he had to tell me what he thought of me. At one point I thought that I would try and drive normal, I wasn’t going to cut anyone off. I was trying to pull out of a gas station near a light. I waited through 2 rotations of the light before I gave up and just pushed my way in. You have to drive selfishly and aggressively or you will get nowhere.

But obviously there were more important things that happened. I really enjoyed seeing my family and J and P and the skater boys. There is no substitute for the skaters here. I forgot how fun they were.

Anyway, here are a few more photos of my trip home. Thanks everyone who made time to see me.
